BASW Coffee Hour: Reclaiming and Decolonizing: Personal and Professional Journey through Social Work

To celebrate World Social Work Day, Dr. Jeannie Celestial (she/her), RAMS Trauma and Grief Loss Counselor and SFSU alumna, will lead a conversation on her personal and professional journey to decolonize. Dr. Celestial is a psychoanalyst and social worker. A second generation Filipina American passionate about culture as a pathway to healing. Dr. Celestial is one of the bestselling authors of The Filipino Instant Pot Cookbook and co-editor/co-author of Clinical Interventions for Internalized Oppression. Her ancestry is from Cebu and Cavite by way of Guhan/Guam. She settled on Lisjan and Miwok territory in the Bay Area. Dr. Jeannie feels most alive by the Pacific Ocean with her family and community.
