Student Concert Hour Celebrating 50 Years with the Clementi Fortepiano

Students perform on the de Bellis Collection's historic Clementi fortepiano. Michaela Overall, Hewen Pan, Kim Marcellini, Bonnie (Chung Lam) Law, Hussein Al-Nasrawi, Jiaze Ma and Alice Kubo. Fifty years ago, Serena de Bellis acquired a fortepiano (manufactured in London by Musio Clementi and Company, circa 1808 - 1809) for the collection that still supports SF State's music curriculum. The harpsichord-shaped frame constructed of oak and mahogany offers a gentle sound -- transparent and capable of subtle nuance familiar to the great composers of the era.
