Students in the Health Education Department (HED) are organizing an educational "street teach-in" with support from HED faculty members Victoria Quijano and David Rebanal, in response to the changing political landscape. Students will discuss the health and equity implications of current events related to immigrants and refugees, the Affordable Care Act, reproductive rights, environmental policy, tax reform and income inequality, LGBTQ rights, and education reform. The focus of this street teach-in is to share knowledge and information about the health impacts of current policy actions and its media coverage, and to provide a forum for building student voices and recognizing the role of student activism to improve public health.
