We've Been Here Art Reception

"We've Been Here" focuses on ground-level documentative film and photographic work. The unique lens of each artist exposes a glimpse into life in the Bay Area, and more importantly, brings the narratives of its people to the center frame. Wielding documentation as a tool for community expression and storytelling, each visual piece provides underrepresented communities with a medium to chronicle their lived experiences in relation to social justice organizing and activism, resilience, empowerment and healing. The artistry of each still and moving image display a dynamic archive of first-hand accounts to honor the memory of ones roots and intersecting identities as essential to defining what is called home. Together, the histories of the Bay Area people echo the verity of "We've Been Here."
