The Psychology department invites the campus community to the annual distinguished speaker colloquia. The first event, Secure and Insecure Love: Insights from Attachment Theory and Research, by UC Davis Professor Emeritus of Psychology Phillip Shaver will be held Wednesday, Oct 26, from 12:10 to 1:30 p.m. in . Faculty and staff are asked to remind their students to attend the lecture, as the topic will be of great interest to many psychology students in such fields as developmental psychology, social psychology, neuroscience and clinical psychology. Shavers grief over the loss of a younger brother lead him to discover Bowlbys attachment theory and sparked research into loneliness and later attachment in couple relationships. That worked spawned an explosion of research in the field, which was summarized in the second edition of Attachment in Adulthood [http://www.guilford.com/books/Attachment-in-Adulthood/Mikulincer-Shaver/9781462525546/reviews] (Guilford Press, 2016), which he coauthored with Mario Mikulincer.
