Bunraku puppeteers give a lecture/demonstration and perform classics and contemporary pieces. Bunraku puppetry is a complex artistic puppetry technique accompanied by narrative chanting and music. Each nearly life-sized puppet requires three puppeteers to bring it to life. The Sonoma Cultural Exchange invited world-renowned Japanese Bunraku puppeteer Kanroku and the Mokugu-sha Company from Osaka, Japan, to feature in Northern California. Be prepared for a rare treat, filled with dramatic myths and legends.
