This play introduces us to an illuminated world. Electricity is making the dark shadows bright, and the unseen visible. In the animated and heady world of Dr. and Mrs. Givings new ideas and technology bring startling discoveries, with the flick of a switch pleasure can be self-administered. Underpinning this Victorian parlor comedy about vibrators are deeper observations about the subjugation of women, racism and classism. Behind the door, in the next room is a new way of understanding love, marriage and the world. Directed by Bill Peters. Please note: This show is intended for mature audiences and contains adult themes. Pre-show discussion: 1 p.m.
