Recital/workshop: Ami Molinelli and Duo Violao Brasil: A History of Choro

This workshop and concert features a new album that chronicles more than 160 years of Brazil's first national music, "choro." Musical styles include the Lundu, European Valsa, polca, tango habanera and maxixe that created the choro genre and paralleled American jazz with indigenous, European and African influences. Composers include Villa-Lobos, Chicquinha Gonzaga and Pixinguinha. Supported by funding from the San Francisco Arts Commission.
