Guest Lectures with English translation: Mr. Seiwemon Onishi XVI, "Cha-no-yu-Kama: Beauty and Appreciation" Dr. Kunio Kirisako, " Tea Rooms in Momoyama Era (late 16th century) andYamanoue no Soji ki" The conference program includes research presentations on Western pre-WWII View of Chanoyu (which includes comments on The Book of Tea ) and Learning Chanoyu from Waka: Instruction and Cultural Transmission in Early Modern Japan (which refers to the so-called 100 poems by Rikyu), as well as a demonstration on making bamboo tea scoops. Enjoy our free service of matcha green tea, a mini exhibit of Mr. Onishis tea kettle, and the post-conference reception (5:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.) for networking.
